The Players Club at Foxfire Golf Club
About
Foxfire Golf Club boasts 36 holes of championship golf, the Foxfire Course and the Players Club Course. The Players Club was added in 1993.The layout is a deft combination of traditional American golf and traditional British links design that provides the perfect complement to the original. The golf course is the more challenging of the two, but not by much. The layout features narrow fairways lined with trees and water hazards on eight holes. There are three particularly tricky carries over water. Strategically placed bunkers and contoured mounding also treacherously lurk by the greensides. The par-4 16th hole is the course's signature. This demanding hole plays uphill through trees to a green that is guarded by five bunkers. The most memorable hole though, might be the par-5 eighth, which features the longest sand bunker in the Midwest.

Still needs work
Been playing here for years and am still disappointed. Early season yes, but greens are in bad shape with ball marks, no rangers on course to maintain pace, no amenities to speak of, no sand in the bunkers - anywhere. Grass over growing bunkers, carts stored uncovered and dirty and moldy - at least make an effort.... Even the “new” carts are a mess already. I recall the first few years the Players Club was open, it was spectacular and worthy of play, now it just feels like another muni waiting to be bought for condos.
Great Course Condition for December Golf
The best course layout across all public options in the greater Columbus area. Each hole is unique bringing its own fun challenges requiring you to develop a strategy before your tee shot. Course was in great condition for an abnormally warm day in mid-December. Easily one of the best public courses in Columbus area.
December to Remember
64 degrees in December on a sunny day with a nice pace of play and a cold beer in hand. I love this course
Overbook. Terribly slow
They overbook the course and this is not the first time I have heard this happening. Walked up to the 1st tee box for our tee time and there were 6 groups ahead of us waiting. Ranger/starter was rude and did not go check on the course to see if anything was slowing things down. Play was ridiculously slow.
Poor conditions
This used to be one of my favorite courses to play over the last 20 years but now course is very rundown. Greens/fairways/tee boxes in very poor shape. They should be ashamed of themselves for charging $42 to play. Not worth paying $15. Do not play here
Bad conditions
This course has always been one of the best in central Ohio but they are tearing up the old course for housing and I think the water has been shut off. I have never seen it in this condition. All of the fairways and greens with a couple exceptions were burnt up. I don’t think they have had water in a long time.iThey are still charging full price and I will not be back until I hear it has recovered
Sad shape of what once was a very good course
Hopefully as the housing project that took over the front course is completed, the Players course can get back to what once was a well maintained challenge as it was years ago. Until I see much improved reviews on a consistent basis, I will not be back as current condition makes one wonder if watering is illegal in that county...very sad.
Sad. Very Sad.
This used to be the NICEST course in all of central Ohio. Now just an absolute dump. This course is 38.95 too much. They should pay you to come down and play. If your buddies ask you to play. . ..RUN!!!! The back 9 is SOOOOO bad that I would of rather played the front twice. Now. . . .give them 3 years (after selling Foxfire)
I'll see you in a few years.
Golf course was in horrible shape for paying $47. They have not been able to water the course due to water line damage. Fairways literally cracking. Tee boxes , fairways and greens were as hard as concrete.. The fact that we were charged $47 with no advance warning of conditions was really disappointing.
1st Time Playing
Excellent golf course. Beautiful layout. Back side needs work. Trees are over hanging in the fairway on hole 14. Doesn’t matter where you hit your tee shot. Your behind a tree. Course needed some manscaping it was very long. Fairways and greens. Bunkers are crap. Overall 4 stars. Solid Columbus course
Course definitely has issues, but it's a great layout
First time playing here. As other's have said, there's a lot of improvements to be made to this course. Bunkers - they're currently working on it. Sand was being added to most bunkers. Once that's done, they'll be good.
Greens and fairways - overall, significant work is needed. Lots of dead spots, crabgrass everywhere, disease present on some greens.
Bottom line is they need the money to get the course up to what it could be. It will take some time to kill all the weeds and replant or resod to have golf course quality turf.
HOWEVER, I loved the layout of this course. Some holes are prairie style with tall grass, then others are tight with woods on each side . A few short par 4s with risk reward and water in play. A real mixed bag that keeps it interesting. The course is definitely worth checking out, if you go into it not expecting prime conditions. For $45 with cart, it's worth it.
To note: you can't just play 9 as the 9th hole doesn't finish back at the clubhouse. There is a nice halfway house between 9 and 10 to get snacks and use restroom.
It's a pretty difficult course, especially the second 9, so I wouldn't recommend it as a beginners course.
Needs money dumped into it
The sister course is now gone, and bulldozers are on site. The players club course needs that money made off the sister course put into it and hopefully soon. My complaint is that I was golfing solo and came upon a group of 3 who let me go ahead of them after a par three which was super nice of them than I came upon a group of 4 who just let a group of 2 go ahead of them I was thinking they would do the same for me on the next hole since it was a par 3 however this group never let me pass them and slowed down my pace of play to a grinding stop I played the whole back 9 behind a group of 4 that wouldn't let a solo golfer go past them unbelievable
Greens in terrible condition
I understand some of the fairways having some dead turf and bunkers being renovated/not raked because of covid, but the condition of the greens was horrendous. The cups hadn’t been changed in at least a week if not more and the area around the hole was so beat up you could only hit it right at the hole and hope it plinko’d in. Slow is an understatement. You cant forget about the crabgrass all over the course and there was even weeds on most greens. Such a rip-off paying $45 to play here.
Improvement
Remember this course being a hidden gem, but when conditions went bad it was quite saddening. Now that the sister course, Foxfire, has been sold off the conditions are improving. New sand is present, greens are green and fungus free, fairways are pure. A great layout and challenging track. Might be a little pricey but still a great experience.
