The Trout Club
About
The Trout Club (formerly known as Licking Springs Golf Club) sprawls across a scenic landscape of rolling hills dotted with natural springs that is also home to an abundance of wildlife. Jack Kidwell, a local course architect who has played in role in many of Ohio's golf courses, designed the challenging layout. The course has a traditional design covered with mature trees, which are especially concentrated along the fairways. The undulating greens provide excellent putting surfaces. Their small size and quick speed will test your short game skills. The course is definitely a shotmaker's layout, placing a heavier emphasis on the placement off of the tee rather than distance. It is a layout that requires careful course management and skillful strategy. In addition to the golf course, The Trout Club offers two practice putting and chipping greens as well as a public swimming pool.

Manager on Duty...WAS AWESOME!
He was running everywhere, prepping food, getting drinks, checking people in, etc! He was so friendly and very helpful! Course played very nice!
Even though it's only 40 minutes from downtown Columbus, I had never heard of the Trout Club resort. It seemed nice enough online, but J was shocked when I pull up to massive, beautiful log cabins and a parking lot full of high end cars. It clearly seems like one of the premier places to play/hang out at in Licking county. Amazing course with a nice mix of hilly right fairways and a few really nice open flat holes. The course was in great shape too. Only 1 green with a little sand patch, and hole placement was far away from it. Price aside, this is one of the best public courses I have played in Ohio. I will play this course again, & I would recommend that you do too.
Great experience
Hidden gem. Beautiful course. Lonnie in the pro shop is a great guy and always helpful.
Super hilly but sooo much fun!!!
2nd time playing here and had just as much fun. It is super hilly but the challenge is a blast!! Highly recommend!!
Excellent day in Ohio for fall golf
Beautiful day in Ohio. The only problem was I lost a few ball in the leaves. Great fall rate $20. Purse is in great shape.
Beautiful Setting for a Friday round
This was my third time playing The Trout Club, and the first time for my friends. They liked the course, thought it was challenging enough without being too tough. We are all relatively new to taking golf a little more serious. The course was in pretty good condition, a few little burned areas on one of the greens, but overall nice course. I like the setting because of the hills and like the challenge of the blind shots from the other side of the hill. Will definitely be back. It is a 40 minute drive, but worth it when you have the time.
Unique golfing experience!
I’ve played here twice now and I really enjoy the course. Fairway conditions are only average. The greens are not overly fast but the slope is significant and makes them extremely challenging. There’s a good bit of water on the course and it definitely comes into play. Layout on a couple of the holes on the back nine is a little bit odd, but they are nevertheless fun and challenging. I’m not sure that I’ve ever played another course like the Trout Club,, and I mean that in a good way.
Amusement Park Course
I'm a local high school coach and my brother, a former club pro, was in town. My team has this course on it's schedule so I needed to play it so I could help them with their round. Long story made short, this is my new favorite course. My brother called it an "amusement park" course. I asked what that was. He said it's a course that you have fun no matter how good or bad you play. If this course was in country club condition (it's not far off) it would be hard to find a tee time.
