Apple Valley Golf Club
About
Situated in Knox County's rolling hills, Apple Valley Golf Club has an idyllic, undulating terrain covered with lush forests. The club is proud of the fact that the course's designers, William Newcomb and John Robinson, were successful in seamlessly blending the course with the natural surroundings and preserving the beauty of the landscape. Long hitters will like this lengthy layout but there are challenges that will appeal to a variety of skill levels. The golf course features a number of holes that require a tricky tee shot through narrow tunnels of trees. There are several ponds located throughout that come into play on half of the holes. Many of the greens are also well protected by sand bunkers. Due to its popularity and versatility, Apple Valley Golf Club hosted a number of championships since opening in 1972, making a name for itself as a competition course.

Best Public Course Under $100
This course could charge more for their tee times if they wanted but they don't. It's an amazing course, well maintained and for $48 in the summer during prime play, you won't beat it anywhere in the Midwest. I rate courses for a golf publication and this course hits all the marks. A little bunker revival is really all it needs. Greens are as good as you will find anywhere.
Nice
After 30 years being part of the Apple Valley family I finally got an opportunity to play the course. Everyone was friendly, the course was phenomenal. Make no mistake, I will be returning!
Love the couse
Really enjoy Apple Valley but on #2 our twosome caught up with 4 older gentlemen that refused to let us through. 4 1/2 hours later we finally finished and there was no reason for this delay. The course is in great condition and a pleasure to play.
5 Stars
Drove from Cleveland and planning another trip to come back best public course in Ohio.
Great day
Played here Wednesday and the course is impeccable. Fairways and greens are very well kept only negative is we caught up to the kids playing a high school tourney and the back nine was like the Bataan death March. Somethings can't be helped.
Where was the ranger???
Followed a 1-some behind a VERY slow 4-some who would not let him play thru on the entire back nine. Our 4-some played the front in 1-1/2 hours, but almost 3 hours on the back. Awful on a hot day.
The MOST beautiful course I've ever played.
Everything about this course is incredible. Greens are perfect. Fairways are lush and well taken care of. This course is challenging, quiet, and indescribable. Played my best golf at this course. Underrated 5/5 ☆☆☆☆☆
What a fun and well kept course
Drove 2 hours and 15 minutes to play by myself. The staff was super friendly and although there was 2 foursomes in front of me, they got me out ahead of them. The course was so much fun! Carpet fairway and deep rough with nice open fairways. There are a couple of holes that have water but aren't too concerning. This is the nicest course I've played. I can't wait to play it again.
Best public course in Central Ohio
Where to begin? Apple Valley Golf Course is by far the best public course in Central Ohio. The course is in great shape besides a couple spots on holes 9 and 10. The greens are probably the most challenging part of the course, they are very fast and putts will lip out. The pace of play might be a little slow but who can blame them for coming to this course. If you want to have a great round at a great course for a good price come here.
Excellent course!
This was my first time playing here and it was great. The course is well maintained and laid out perfectly. The staff was very friendly and easy to chat with. This place is course management at its finest. The course and facilities are very clean as well.
A GEM INDEED!
Besides for the group of S.L.O.W men (seemingly trying golf for the 1st time) in front of our 6 groups, it was a fantastic day! We all LOVED the course and the facilities were beautiful. Plan to come back again!!
A really fun course to play
Staff is always friendly and courteous. It is one of nicest golf courses around. A must play!
A true Gem in Mid-Ohio
Fantastic course in great shape from tee box to green. Definitely worth the drive. Challenging course for all levels of play. Several holes are lined with tees, but have wide enough fairways to make the course fair.
Great golf course!
Excellent layout. Holes 7 through 11 are the keys to a good round as they are tight. Many birdie opportunities as well.
Worth the drive.
We drove about an hour and ten minutes to get here.
We teed off on time and played in four hours.
course played firm and greens were quick. Make sure you play the proper tees. Course can play really long if on wrong tee box and/or it is wet. we had a great time and will definitely return.
Glad We Played In Spite pf the Weather
Course absorbed nearly 2 inches of water. They allowed us to tee off and asked only that we be respectful to course and avoid standing water, They sent staff out to squeegee the greens. I can't wait to go back when the weather is better. Really a beautiful course.
Great course
Great price for your money especially the Hot Deal of the day, well worth the drive to play, had rain early and first 9 holes were somewhat wet, water running through the fairways, water on the greens, they had a group of 4 workers going hole to hole to get the water off the greens. Back 9 was much dryer than the front 9. They really take care of their course and this is why it is one of the best public courses in Ohio. A lot of fun to play, took a friend that had never played it and he can't wait to come back again.
Good course but
Nice course, but not worth the 1-1/2 hour drive from downtown columbus, ohio
Useless comment. Are you reviewing the course or complaining about your drive. We're interested in the course, not complaints about travel. Plenty of us will gladly drive an hour and a half to play a great course.
very enjoyabale golf course
This is beautiful place to play. Tees and fairways were in fantastic shape. Greens had been lightly sanded but you would not know except for looking at them. They were fast and rolled true. I played here the past two days, and plan to again real soon even though it is an hour and fifteen for me to get there from Pickerington.
I'd like to know about the course, not the fact that you got unlucky and got stuck behind some hacks. Was the course nice? Would you play it again if pace of play were'nt an issue?
Angry reviews always confuse me when they aren't about the course.
