Situated midway between Hebron and Newark, Mastodon Golf Club (formerly known as Burning Tree Golf Course) is an 18-hole layout whose location has unique historical significance. In 1989 while digging a new pond for the course, a crewmember discovered fossils of the extinct American Mastodon. Although the original skeleton resides in Japan, the course is home to a full-sized replica as well as over 150 other replicas of both dinosaurs and Ice Age mammals. The museum-quality replicas make the golf course a fun place for families. In addition to the natural history lesson it offers, the course also provides a relaxing round that players of any skill level will enjoy. The regulation-length course has a classic layout that is both accessible and a fair challenge. The affordable rates make Burning Tree even more appealing.

Easy to get lost on cart paths

Didn't see any out of bounds markers. Not for the beginner due to lakes locations, hills, valleys, narrow fairways, sloping greens.
Cart paths are confusing. Some of the holes do have signs pointing to their tee boxes. We had a great afternoon here. I shot my highest score for the summer here though. I hadn't played here for over 20 years, so not really disappointed with my 96.

Tee Time

Even though you have a tee time, get get you going anytime you are ready. So, if you are early, they will still get out going, basically no waiting

Good value for the money.

Course could use a little work on the fairways and greens, but overall the course is a good value for the money.

confusing layout

I find it hard to find my way through the 18. lots of cart path but not sure which way to go tall fince seperating two tees, path cross's infront of one tee and if you dont see the yield sign you might drive in front of someone teeing off. I have to say I won't be back again till I hear things have been corrected.

Very unfriendly locals

Badly maintained fairways & mediocre greens are what you get for your $20 here. You also get friendly staff but the most unfriendly locals I have ever encountered. One of them actually picked up my ball & threw it in a lake. Basically avoid this place like the plague.

We strive to make each round enjoyable but unfortunately we can't watch the course 24/7. Please inform the staff in the clubhouse as soon as something like this happens and we can address it on the spot immediately with whomever is causing disruption.

BUDGET PRICE BUDGET COURSE

Not much good to say. But if you ger a cheap price try it out. Trees, narrow fraways on 9 holes, small greens that bounce all making it hard to score well.
