The Trout Club
About
The Trout Club (formerly known as Licking Springs Golf Club) sprawls across a scenic landscape of rolling hills dotted with natural springs that is also home to an abundance of wildlife. Jack Kidwell, a local course architect who has played in role in many of Ohio's golf courses, designed the challenging layout. The course has a traditional design covered with mature trees, which are especially concentrated along the fairways. The undulating greens provide excellent putting surfaces. Their small size and quick speed will test your short game skills. The course is definitely a shotmaker's layout, placing a heavier emphasis on the placement off of the tee rather than distance. It is a layout that requires careful course management and skillful strategy. In addition to the golf course, The Trout Club offers two practice putting and chipping greens as well as a public swimming pool.

not worth the trip
the course came well recommended but I was very disappointed when instead of cared for green's the just dyed them green. the greens also had large spots of what appeared to be missing grass chunks. the fairways had allot of pot holes. was not pleased with condition.
Trout Club Golf Course
Nice course for the $$. Everyone is usually very nice & this time was no different. Played alone & got around in just about 3 hours, but I was in no hurry whatsoever.
Great value
Other than a few instances of ground under repair, the greens were immaculate and rolling much faster than I remember last year.
Facilities are nice and the staff is very friendly
Course layout loses a star for me because I do not like the amount of blind tee shots, but not a huge deal
Great staff and value!
Great value and the people were amazing. Fast greens with a few spots, but great play.
Challenging But Dangerous
I loved the front nine, elevation changes and nice scenery. Greens and fairways were in great shape given the recent lack of rain. The back nine is a whole different story. The elevation changes mixed with a fairly crowded course and blind tee shots lead to many tee shots whizzing right past us. There’s no way to tell if the group ahead of you is out of the way so we would end up taking the cart down to see where the next group was.
Had a great time with the guys I was paired with. Start was a little crazy as no Marshall was on duty, also a 4 some showed up 15 min late but work thru it. Only down fall was that other golfers like to pick up others players balls, Didn't matter if in fairway or not we had to yell at a few guys. Balls were even marked. I'll definitely be back to play tho.
Course
Lots of blind shots into the green and off the tee. Greens are fast with lots of break. Starter allowed me to go off the back nine as a single to start and I was able to complete 9 holes in an hour. Front nine took 2 hours as I joined a group of two.
Course conditions
I have played the course several times, the conditions are getting very nice.. The Back Nine greens need to be leveled out to make it fair. Whole number 11 12 13 greens need to be leveled. They are unfair when you put the ball uphill and it rolls back down if you missed the cup. Sometimes you're further away then your first putt.
Trout
Depending on where you are coming from it's a bit of a drive but it's worth it. The elevation changes are a good challenge.
